Hotels in Qatar are expected to witness high occupancy during Eid Al Fitr holidays due to an increase in bookings from regional tourists and domestic guests.

Hoteliers are set to welcome an influx of holiday makers during Eid and expect 100 percent occupancy. The occupancy rate was 80 percent during the last days of Ramadan, according to industry sources. Many tourists prefer staying in resorts and others choose hotels located close to where Eid entertainment events are held. Also, tourists enjoy benefits of special Eid promotions and packages provided by hotels and travel agents.

These packages include attractive travel fare, hotel stay and vouchers for Eid events held at places like Katara, Souq Waqif and other locations. Some hotels and resorts are organising special events for Eid holidays with special rates to meet the expected demand for this year’s celebrations. “With our hotel running at full occupancy during this period, we have a lot of guests coming from abroad wishing to celebrate Eid with their families, and we have exactly what they are looking for — an attractive family-friendly environment for a good package,” said a spokesperson at Grand Hyatt Doha Hotel and Villas.

Also, expecting a high demand for buffets and take-away meals during Eid holidays, hotels and restaurants have unveiled rich choices of culinary flavours. Some hotels say that almost 80 percent of guests plan their Eid celebrations well in advance and book ahead, while others are walk-in customers. The prices at most hotels and restaurants vary between QR150 and QR1000 or more. Hotels and restaurants offer special Eid buffets. “Our Eid buffets are very popular and we are always fully booked,” said the spokesperson of a hotel. She said although the demand for Eid buffets is mainly from regional tourists, there is a high demand from Doha residents as well “who choose to celebrate with us with their families”.

Qatar’s leading hotels and restaurants offer special Eid buffets with a variety of traditional, Arabic and international cuisines. Some of them diversify the menu to include items like Japanese sushi, pasta and tandoori. “There is a big demand for Eid buffets as everyone wants to celebrate together in a big way. Some guests do reservations, while most are walk-in customers,” said a spokesperson at Intercontinental Doha the City. They offer Eid buffets for three days. “We have lunch and dinner menu for three days during Eid,” said a spokesperson at Remman Cafe Doha , a 24-hour dining outlet that offers authentic Lebanese menu. He claimed guests make reservations at least two days in advance.

Besides luxury restaurants, mid-range and ordinary eateries also witness huge rush for Eid meals. Most of their customers are families and single workers. The manager of a popular Sri Lankan restaurant said, “Customers started making enquiries about our offers and have been making orders since the 20th of Ramadan. “Many of them are bachelors and some are families. But many have ordered take-away packs,” the manager added.
