The outlook for luxury goods market in Qatar is quite robust as sales of high-end jewellery and watches have gone up dramatically in the country, owner of Qatar’s top jewellery and watches retail brand Ali Bin Ali has said.
In an exclusive interview with Qatar Tribune, Ali Bin Ali Group Vice-Chairman and EVP Nabeel Ali bin Ali said sales of luxury jewellery and watches in the country went up by almost 40 percent in 2018 when compared with the previous year. “There was hardly any impact of the blockade on this sector. The growing demand for luxury items shows the power of spending among Qatari nationals and residents,” he said.
The Ali Bin Ali Group is showcasing famous international brands under its umbrella to continue its tradition of being a top exhibitor at the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE), he said. “We see a very good demand for our luxury products this year as well. The first day is usually quiet, but this year I can see so many people. The sales usually pick up from the third and fourth day when buyers are done with window shopping. We expect a good turnout this year,” he said.
Citing Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition as one of the best exhibitions of luxury jewellery and watches brands in the Middle East, he said the expo has played a vital role in developing market for luxury products in the country. “We have been participating in this exhibition for decades. Each edition, we go a step forward. The best thing about this expo is it that we serve the consumers directly. There are no brokers in the middle. We deal directly with the end users,” he said. He said the Group is occupying the same prime position as the last edition to deliver an unparalleled experience to those who appreciate the finer things in life.
Exhibition-goers from around Qatar as well as international visitors who visited ABA Luxury’s pavilion on the first day of the exhibition had the opportunity to view fine timepieces, exquisite jewellery, classical writing instruments and sophisticated accessories. “We are proud to be part of this year’s edition of the exhibition.
