Local designers debut collections at W Doha Hotel fashion show

W Doha Hotel & Residences, showcased the collection of three local designers on Monday October 23 at The Living Room. The Qatar grown designers: Maqdeem founders Maqdeem al-Naama and Aisha al-Naama, Yasmin Mansoor and WAAD Designs debuted their artistry in lively, colorful and trendy looks to dignitaries, VIPs and fashion lovers from across the city.

All three designers who are based in Qatar showcased their gorgeous designs on the runway for the Spring/Sumer 2019 season. Many of their pieces can be found online via their respective websites and all three designers from time to time showcase their designs at pop-stores around the country which enable residents to purchase on the spot.

Maqdeem, infamous for their abayas, stayed true to their heritage but also to their love of traveling and exploration of different cultures which was apparent in all pieces. Co-Founder of Maqdeem Aisha al-Naama said, “We're really proud to being part of this unique event that brings local designers together under one roof. It has given us a podium to share our story and journey with the local community who are also passionate about fashion. Our latest collection is inspired by our love for travel and of course our Qatari heritage - and we hope that women who wear our pieces are able to feel our story.”

Yasmin Mansour's innovative designs and futuristic garments are luxurious, yet wearable at the same time. WAAD Designs, A Qatari Abaya brand that launched in 2010 featured a mix of unique abayas and capes which can be draped over other WAAD’s pieces perfect for under the Abaya. Commenting on the fashion show General Manager of W Doha Wassim Daaje said, “Our intention at the W Doha is to support the local arts scene and local designers in Qatar. Doha has always been a welcoming city for fashion and encouraging local artists to develop their talent and aspirations. At the W Doha, we want to provide a platform for much-needed collaboration, support and inspiration that ambitious designers and young businesses need to learn and thrive. Fashion is a frontier, it should have no borders.”
