H.E. Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser reaffirms Qatar’s commitment to sustainable development

His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior for the State of Qatar, delivered the keynote speech at the inaugural International Products Exhibition and Conference (IPEC 2018) today.

His Excellency the Prime Minister opened the conference by announcing that Qatar has entered a new chapter in its sustainable development journey, noting that under theguidance of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the nation has already achieved significant progress in terms of economic, social, and environmental sustainability. His Excellency the Prime Minister said that despite the current volatility of the global economic climate, as well as unjust pressures placed on Qatar by the blockading nations, Qatar has continued to successfully pursue its economic agenda to achieve Qatar’s National Vision 2030.

His Excellency the Prime Minister emphasised Qatar’s economic cooperation with international partners, highlighting new trade relationships that have been formed since the current crisis. He noted that genuine and fulfilling ties across public and private sectors are vital to achieving economic growth and mutual benefits for Qatar and its partners.

His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani said: “Despite the repercussions of the unjust blockade on Qatar, the implementation of these projects is proceeding according to the set timelines as a result of the measures taken to deal with the crisis, increasing self-sufficiency of different commodities, fostering cooperation with fraternal and friendly states, and diversifying trade lines between Qatar and countries of the world. Qatar has prioritised the process of fostering the business environment, as it updated the legislative framework, facilitated procedures, provided an advanced infrastructure to encourage local and foreign investments, and increased trust in the business environment in the country.”

IPEC 2018 is convening international investors and business owners with Qatari private and public bodies to explore global economic challenges, as well as investment and development opportunities in Qatar. The forum also serves to bolster economic relations between nations and business entities and accelerate trade across industries. The event will welcome participants from Qatar, Oman,Kuwait, Jordan, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, and Tajikistan.
