The month of November witnessed a series of sporting events, including cricket and rugby tournaments hosted by schools as well as professional clubs and associations in different locations across Qatar.
In keeping with the tradition, McDonald’s Qatar supported each of the sporting activities across the country, by offering young players a unique opportunity to build their sense of teamwork and focus on the joy of playing. These activities were also aimed at stressing the importance of community bonding.
More than 750 students participated in the Senior Sports Meet conducted by Stafford Sri Lankan School at Qatar Sports Club. Likewise, the SriLankan School’s Touch Rugby 7's (Lions Rugby) organized a rugby tournament at the Doha Rugby Football Club in Al Saad which witnessed over 600 spectators that included families and players. Further, the 9th Royal Thomian Cricket & Rugby Encounter 2017 witnessed participation from 100 - 150 elite cross section of Sri Lankan Community living in Doha. The Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka Qatar - Chapter too organized the Qatar Premier League 2017 at MIC grounds, Messaied.
In addition, the Qatar Cricket Association hosted the Abu Hamour Pakistan International School Cricket Coaching Camp, besides the Junior Cricket Coaching Camp at Pearl School. On most of the occasions, the team from McDonald's Qatar regaled the spectators with character appearances, face painting and games. Furthermore, the Lions Rugby received some vouchers and coupon, and to quench thirst, refreshing orange juice was served to the teams, organizers as well as audience.
